Volunteer Opportunity: Lifeline Unit – Installation & Service Provider

Lydia Elder

Lifeline is Canada’s most reliable medical alert system, which allows seniors to live independently with 24/7 access to emergency medical support. As one of the businesses run by the Delta Hospital Auxiliary Society, funds generated by Lifeline services in Delta are invested back into our community to support the care & comfort of patients at the Delta Hospital Campus of Care. As a DHAS volunteer with our Lifeline unit, you will be making an impact not only in the services you provide directly to seniors and their families through the provision of the Lifeline medical alert system, but you will also be making a significant impact in the purchase of priority medical equipment and funding services (such as music therapy, spiritual care, etc.) for patients!

This volunteer position requires approximately 2-4 hours per week with very flexible timing. The right candidate will be someone who is friendly & outgoing, is comfortable working with seniors (both over the phone and in the individual’s home,) and who is able to drive to/from subscribers’ homes.

Duties include:

  • conducting telephone interviews with new subscribers;
  • visiting new subscribers’ residences to install Lifeline equipment; and
  • providing instructions, user orientation, and completing paperwork with new subscribers.
