June 13, 2025 | The Ladner May Days Parade took to the streets on Sunday, May 25 with a rockin’ theme of Musical Icons Through the Ages — from Adele to ZZ Top. We could not be more proud to announce that this year’s winner of the Best in Parade award was DHAS! Our float, consisting of a vintage tractor and fabulous trailer, was donated by Mike G. and driven by Jesse D., featuring DHAS volunteers dressed as Stevie Nicks, Janice Joplin, Cher, Tina Turner, Frank Sinatra, Elvis Presley, Madonna, Elton John, and Bob Dylan, all wearing vintage gear sourced mainly from our Thrift Shop.
Following the main float were three carts featuring sculptures representing the DHAS Thrift Shop Christmas Store, Housewares, and Children’s Toys and Books. Instead of giving out candy, volunteers distributed children’s books to spectators along the route.
DHAS offers warm congratulations and sincere thanks to Ann R., the leading light behind this year’s winning float, along with Karin W., a small but mighty contingent of folks who spent two days blowing up balloons and preparing the decorations, and the team of volunteers from the Thrift Shop and Gift Shop who participated. What a fun day of community spirit, music, and celebration!
