Celebrating a remarkable DHAS volunteer milestone

October 22, 2025 | DHAS Thrift Shop volunteer Will Sampert celebrated his 100th birthday with coffee, cake and friends at the DHAS Thrift Shop, where he has volunteered since 201o alongside his wife Eleanor. Eleanor, a volunteer since 1995, has served as both Thrift Shop Treasurer and Wednesday Co-ordinator.

Married in 1950, Will and Eleanor share five children, fifteen grandchildren, and twenty-seven great-grandchildren. When Will retired from his plastering business, the couple moved to Ladner and Eleanor began her volunteer work at the Thrift Shop. Will and Eleanor now live in Tsawwassen Springs, where they enjoy watching golfers and passers-by from their balcony.

Today’s milestone birthday, coming just after Will and Eleanor’s 75th wedding anniversary, reflects the couple’s enduring partnership and intergenerational mentorship within DHAS’s volunteer network. Will notes that daily walks, family time, travel, golf, bowling, volunteering, and the occasional gin martini keep him going. Congratulations to Will and Eleanor!
