September 5, 2025 | DHAS recently donated $800,000 to the Delta Hospital and Community Health Foundation (DHCHF) to support priority medical equipment across several departments at the Delta Hospital Campus of Care. The funding was allocated through a department-driven process led by Elizabeth Zapasnik, Director of Clinical Operations at Delta Hospital who surveyed unit-level needs in order to identify priority requests.

DHAS President Maureen Mooney says, “DHAS is deeply grateful for the dedication and hard work of our volunteers, whose commitment made this generous gift to DHCHF possible. I also want to extend our sincere thanks to our colleagues at Fraser Health and the Delta Hospital and Community Health Foundation for our collaborative partnership. Together, we’re strengthening care for our community, one milestone at a time.”

Cathy Wiebe, Executive Director for White Rock, South Surrey, Delta Health Services, Peace Arch and Delta Hospitals, wrote a letter of thanks to DHAS, noted that “these types of funds cannot be achieved without the dedication of those within our Auxiliary. We recognize and celebrate you in creating an environment of giving.”

At a recent presentation to the DHAS Board of Directors, Jodi Stokes, the Foundation’s Director of Legacy and Leadership Giving (pictured above with DHCH Foundation CEO Lisa Hoglund), explained how the funds are to be allocated. Some of the highlights include the following items for the operating room:

Ophthalmology: a high precision microscope to improve visibility during eye surgeries

Suction unit: self-cleaning suction units to evacuate biohazards and smoke

Compression instrument set: for compressive fractures and small bone repairs

In addition to the above purchases, the Emergency Department (ER) equipment will receive two bariatric stretchers for patients requiring extra support. Mountain View Manor will receive two manual lift devices for mobility support. The Medical Floors will receive two new wheelchairs and four medication carts.
