The Communications Unit keeps the community informed of the Auxiliary’s activities through our website, Facebook and various media and advertising strategies. Auxiliary volunteers also participate in community events such as Ladner Market Days, May Day Parade, Car & Quilt Show and other local festivals.
Auxiliary members love opportunities to meet the public and explain how as well as the major funds we have contributed to unfunded medical equipment, programs and bursaries at Delta Hospital, we focus on service, care and comfort for acute patients as well as residents of Mountain View Manor.
The Delta Hospital Auxiliary belongs to the BCAHA, a large provincial group of hospital auxiliaries which together donate annually millions of dollars to the BC Healthcare System as well as thousands of hours in volunteer work.
Also included within Communications are the Vendors’ Marketplace (in the Cafe area of the hospital) and the Pillow Pals programs – volunteers sew mastectomy and post surgical pillows from donated materials.
PILLOW PALS AT IT AGAIN! (from The Optimist June 10, 2015):
“Delta Hospital Auxiliary volunteers Lesley Davis (left), Colleen Plain and Betty Davis hand over one of the 40 pillow sets to Sharon Secord (second from left), clinical nurse specialist for breast health with Fraser Health. The Auxiliary is donating the pillow sets to the Jim Pattison Outpatient Care and Surgery Centre.
